ECI Client software (ECI) is protected by copyright. You may: ·

use the installed copy of ECI (in its unaltered form) for electronic communications with the Tax Office, and
make copies of it for back-up purposes only.

All other rights are reserved. In particular, you may not:

decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code for ECI, or
sub-licence, distribute or create derivative works based upon ECI in whole or in part.

Product information

The Australian Tax Office:

provides ECI “as is” and without charge,
gives no express or implied warranties (and to the full extent permitted by law excludes all statutory warranties) in relation to ECI (including as to its performance or fitness for a particular purpose),and
will not be liable in any way for any loss or damage (including special, indirect or consequential) arising from or in connection with ECI or its use or performance.

If you are located outside Australia, you are responsible for complying with local laws. Those laws may impact your eligibility to obtain or use a copy of ECI.

Other software products

Any other software made available to you together with ECI is governed by the terms of the end user licence agreement which accompanies or is included with that software.

Privacy

This site is operated by the Australian Tax Office using both Commonwealth and commercial web hosting facilities. When visiting this site, a record of your visit is logged. The following information is recorded for statistical purposes and is used by the Tax Office to help improve the site. This information is supplied by your browser:

the user's server address
the user's operating system (for example Windows, Mac etc)
the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
the date and time of the visit to the site
the pages accessed and the documents downloaded
the previous site visited
the type of browser used.

No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet web server logs.

Collection of personal information

When you e-mail us:

we will record your e-mail address
we will only use your e-mail address for the purpose for which you provided it
it will not be added to a mailing list unless you have specifically requested this
we will not use your e-mail address for any other purpose, and
we will not disclose it without your consent.

Other personal information collected by us, for example through the use of an online form, will only:

be collected by lawful and fair means
be used for a lawful purpose
be collected with your consent, and
the purpose for collection should be clear and explicit.
